Drake Bay for 3 nights and 4 full days

​Embark on a scenic speedboat journey through the Sierpe mangrove river to reach Drake Bay. Join us to witness the sunset just outside Drake Bay, near San Josecito beach—a breathtaking sight not directly visible from Drake Bay itself. Relax and unwind on the Catamaran with a refreshing drink, or engage in one of our onboard activities while enjoying the stunning sunset view!

Join us on an overnight expedition at the national park Corcovado through one of the most vibrant and biodiverse locations on the planet, rich in both flora and fauna. This immersive overnight tour takes you through two distinct stations within the Corcovado National Park. Experience the abundant wonders of the secondary forest at Sirena Station, followed by an enlightening exploration of the ancient and untamed primary forest at San Pedrillo Station the next day.

The following day, delve into Costa Rica's rich underwater world at Caño Island aboard a comfortable Catamaran. Explore the coral reefs and diverse marine life surrounding the island, perfect for snorkeling and diving. Amid the island's lush tropical rainforest, take a leisurely break at the main beach near the ranger station.

 

Itinerary

Day 1 – Sierpe – Drake Bay & Sunset Tour

Embark on a journey from Sierpe to Drake Bay aboard a speedboat that cruises through the enchanting mangrove river. Boat departure will be at 11:30 am and, offering you a swift and exhilarating opportunity to catch a glimpse of the captivating mangrove forest. Upon arrival at Drake Bay's beach, you will be dropped off directly in front of Pirate Drake Beach Camp, or you’ll be picked up from the main beach.

The sunset tour begins at 3:30 pm from Drake Bay's main beach. We'll cruise near San Josecito Beach, approximately a 25-minute catamaran ride away. There, you can snorkel, use paddle boards, or the water slide, and take a refreshing dip while relishing the sunset. The Catamaran's minibar will be open, offering cold beers or cocktails. We anticipate returning around 6:30 pm.

Day 2 – Corcovado National Park – Sirena Station

Our adventure begins at 6:00 am from Drake Bay. We embark on a 1-hour boat ride to reach Sirena Station. Upon arrival, a 30-minute hike takes us to the ranger station, where we'll store our luggage at our lodging. Our initial 3.5-hour hike traverses the secondary forest, offering opportunities to spot diverse wildlife like various monkey species, peccaries, anteaters, coatis, and perhaps even a tapir. During our lunch break at the station, you'll have 2 hours to rest. In the afternoon, another 3-hour hike awaits, allowing us to encounter more wildlife. As the day draws to a close, we'll witness the sunset from the beach, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. back at the station.

Day 3 – Corcovado National Park – Sirena & San Pedrillo Station

We rise early at 4:30 am for a 2.5-hour morning hike. Breakfast awaits at the station at 7:30 a.m. At 8:30 am, we embark on another hike to explore a different trail at Sirena Station. Around 11:30 am, our boat will transport us to San Pedrillo Station. There, we'll enjoy lunch at the ranger station or a boxed lunch. The subsequent hike takes us into the primary forest, where we'll marvel at the majestic nature, delve deeper into the tropical rainforest ecosystem, and learn about the ancient plants and trees that have thrived for over 2000 years. The hike culminates at a waterfall with natural swimming holes, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the serenity of nature's sounds.

Following a half-hour boat ride or car drive, we'll return to Drake Bay between 3 pm and 4 pm.

 

Day 4 - Isla del Caño by Catamaran & Drake Bay - Sierpe

The tour begins at 7:00 am from the main beach in Drake Bay. The catamaran journey takes approximately 1 hour, offering a chance to spot whales or dolphins en route (subject to seasonal availability). We'll have two 45-minute snorkeling sessions, providing the opportunity to encounter various fish species, turtles, and perhaps even a shark.

During intervals, we'll take a short break at Caño Island's beach. Throughout the remaining time, guests can unwind on the catamaran's nets, enjoy activities like paddleboarding, utilize the jumping platforms, or slide down the waterslide. Our picnic lunch buffet will be served onboard, and the minibar will be available for refreshments.

By around 2:00 pm, we'll return to Drake Bay, where you'll subsequently journey back to Sierpe via speedboat. As you make your way back to the starting point of this adventure, relish the return journey and reminisce about the unforgettable moments experienced throughout the last days.

 

Accommodation

The price includes your stay in a double room at our Pirate Drake Beach Camp, where you'll sleep in a glamping tent right in front of the beach.

Alternatively, you can choose Casa Gitana, located a 5-minute walk from the beach but boasting a private beach area on the other side of the river from Drake Bay (Casa Gitana is situated 2 kilometers outside of town)
