Drake Bay for 4 nights and 5 days

Embark on a scenic speedboat journey through the Sierpe mangrove river to reach Drake Bay.

Delve into two thrilling full-day diving excursions, exploring the island's five authorized dive points, with coral reefs and mesmerizing sea turtles, graceful manta rays, and a vibrant array of marine life surrounding the island. Amid the island's lush tropical rainforest, take a leisurely break at the main beach near the ranger station.

An exhilarating experience in exploring Costa Rica's vibrant marine life with a night dive during the transition from day to night near Drake Bay, all aboard a comfortable Catamaran. We've recently discovered two new spots near San Josecito that are perfect for diving, showcasing an array of diverse marine life.

Join us for an expedition into one of the most vibrant and biodiverse locations on the planet, abundant in rich flora and fauna. This immersive day tour will guide you through the Sirena station in the Corcovado National Park, offering an opportunity to experience the wonders of the secondary forest at Sirena Station.

 

Itinerary

Day 1 – Sierpe – Drake Bay

Embark on a journey from Sierpe to Drake Bay aboard a speedboat that cruises through the enchanting mangrove river. Boat departures are available at 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM, offering you a swift and exhilarating opportunity to catch a glimpse of the captivating mangrove forest. Upon arrival at Drake Bay's beach, you will be dropped off directly in front of Pirate Drake Beach Camp, or you’ll be picked up from the main beach.

 

Day 2 - Isla del Caño by Catamaran

The tour starts at 7:00 am from Drake Bay. The catamaran ride takes about 1 hour, and we might spot whales or dolphins on the way (depending on the season). You'll have two 45-minute dives at 2 of the 5 authorized points, including the Cave, Arch, and Devil's Rock at Caño Island. You may see sea turtles, giant manta rays, sharks, and definitely many different kinds of other fish. In between, we'll take a short break at the beach of Caño Island. For the rest of the time, you can relax on the catamaran, use the paddleboard, jump into the water, or use the waterslide. Lunch will also be served on board. The minibar is open! Around 2:00 pm, we'll return to Drake Bay.

Day 3 – Corcovado National Park

Our day's expedition kicks off at 6:00 am departing from Drake Bay. A one-hour speedboat ride transports us to Sirena Station. Once there, a leisurely 4.5-hour hike through the secondary forest unfolds, presenting ample chances to encounter a variety of wildlife, including different monkey species, peccaries, anteaters, coatis, and with luck, even a tapir. Around 11:30, we pause at the ranger station to enjoy lunch and take a break before beginning our return journey. We anticipate arriving back in Drake Bay by 1:30 pm.

Night Scuba Diving

After you had a siesta, the tour begins at 3:30 pm from Drake Bay. We'll head towards San Josecito, which is approximately a 25-minute catamaran ride away. As the sun sets, we'll embark on a 40-minute dive at one of our two new spots (depending on sea conditions and currents), allowing you to witness the magical transition from day to night and explore the underwater marine life.

During the remaining time, you're welcome to relax on the catamaran, use the paddleboard, take a refreshing dip in the water, or slide down the waterslide. Fresh fruits and snacks will be available on board. The minibar will be open after the diving session! We'll return to Drake Bay around 6:30 pm.

 

Day 4 - Isla del Caño by Catamaran

Extended Dive Expedition around Cano Island

Prepare for another thrilling day of exploration at Cano Island. Commencing at 7:00 am from Drake Bay, embark on an extended Cano Island expedition. This tour includes the exploration of new dive sites, offering fresh perspectives and diverse encounters with the underwater world beyond the previous day's itinerary. After exhilarating dives, take a break at Cano Island's beach, savor another delicious onboard lunch, and engage with fellow enthusiasts. Spend leisure time on the catamaran, soaking in the peaceful coastal atmosphere.

 

Day 5 – Drake Bay – Sierpe

Check-out time is at 10:00 am. At either 7:30 am or 2:00 pm, you have the option to return to Sierpe by speedboat. Enjoy the return journey and reminisce about the unforgettable moments as you make your way back to the starting point of the adventure.

 

Accommodation

The price includes your stay in a double room at our Pirate Drake Beach Camp, where you'll sleep in a glamping tent right in front of the beach.

Alternatively, you can choose Casa Gitana, located a 5-minute walk from the beach but boasting a private beach area on the other side of the river from Drake Bay (Casa Gitana is situated 2 kilometers outside of town)
